The fluoride cause probably isn't as big a deal as it's made out to be. But it's also true that systemic administration is a Bad Thing generally. Another good example is antiandrogens for baldness. Most people should be moving to topicals. Or anti-inflammatories. Most people should be using creams not oral ingestion.
It is very hard to alter homeostasis without consequence. The way to reduce that consequence is 1. do it smarter and 2. do it in a smaller area.
I fail to see why high-fluoride toothpaste with rinsing is inferior.
